Off to a fresh start!!
I want to make this a healthier time for me and mine. With all this good stuff I'm going to try my hand at Homemade Washing Powder. Are you doing anything out of the ordinary for 2011?

What could it be?
Could a memory be so obvious? This tree was in my husbands home when he was growing up. I found it in the clean up and wouldn't let it go into storage. I remember this kind of tree in my childhood. Did you have the same tree? The tree with all its shine and the smells that came from the kitchen. Now these are my memories.

Whew!!! I made it.
What a birthday! My camping/junking trip got rained out. So I did the next best thing. I found an indoor spot. I found a few things. Now I have to figure out what to do with them. The muffin pan goes with my other kitchen junk. The little green vase? Oh, well it's green, that's enough. A Life magazine from the week I was born has great illustrations. A bunch of fringe from a bedspread and a ribbon of, I think, tatting. Any ideas on what to do with that?Tthanks Vicki and Karen for the good wishes = }

The Big 50 eve
I turn 50 tomorrow, the 13th. My camping plans were shot down due to rain, so I'll stay home and be lazy. At my house that doesn't mean the same as some people. I think I'll go junking instead. What would you do in this case?

These are a few of my favorite things
I have a small collection of the white, knobby, glass vanity lamps that I love. You can also see the old pillowcase edge that I saved and My camper key.

and the rain came down
I woke to the sound of something unusual. What was it? I knew I had heard it before, but could quite make it out since it was so long ago and came very lightly.
Oh, it's got louder. Now I knew .... this sound was a reason to go back to sleep. It was a sound of happy flowers and lettuce. It was RAIN. Very softly, then getting stronger. I
It came and went all day, into the night and again the next day. It was an inconvenience, but a much awaited one.
Now it feels like "FALL" is here. I actually have to stay in, not because I have something to do, but there's not much to get into on a day like this.

Do you like to read?
Since I have so much spare time, NOT, I try to keep a book around, just in case. Sometimes if I time my moments just right, it happens. I get a few minutes before I fall asleep to read and relax. Do any of you like to read? What do you enjoy? I'm not into the romance stuff, like most women I know. Usually, a light historical fiction about the pioneer women that we came from encourages me.
A GREAT read
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book!!!!
Couldn't find anything a the library this trip so I grabbed this. Saved it for the boring evenings, but OH, MY GOSH....

Getting ready for the holiday season
Well, I brought October to a close with as much Fall harvest as I had time for. Cabbage, ham, cornbread and pumpkin cake. Now it's time to get ready for Thankgiving. My second favorite holiday of the year. I used to love November because it was my birthday month, but now I just love it for all the feelings it brings to mind. I love traditions, though, I'm not good at getting my little family to join anything, but the food part. What traditions do you hold near? Do the memories make you laugh or just sit and wonder. I'd love to know what you do!

I think I got it
I got my first follower and tried to enter some giveaways. There is so much vintage out there, I feel inadequate. If you are reading this and see where I could do things better or different let me know. I'm still trying to master the picture thing and don't have a clue about the" button thing" I keep seeing.

What I wouldn't give...
I teach all week so weekends come and go very quickly. I would love to be the woman who can work all day, then come home and cheerily cook and clean before bedtime. Oh, well, I do cook and clean and I am cheery, but not all three at the same time. After a day with a room full of 5 yr. olds I do good to come home and get one of these done before bedtime. Any suggestions?

my new best friend
I have always loved camping. My husband of 15 yrs. used that to convince me to marry him, but alas, he likes staying home more than anything. So here I am turning 50 and look what he finds me. now I can do what I've always wanted. All I have to do is practice diving with it and backing it up. If anyone else loves camping let me know and we'll set out on an adventure.

planting
Just planted some greens in the herb garden. My herbs have all dried up with the drought. Now I guess I need to start watering in my spare time. Hmm, when is that?

Autumn has Fallen
It's official for me! With me picking pecans for something tasty and Randy breaking ground for winter grass, Fall has finally showed up. The cooler weather is so nice. Now all we need is a good rain to help everything grow.

hello out there
Am I the only woman around who lives in a mobile home, but longs for an old fashioned house with a picket fence? Surely there is someone else who loves the country life, but has to go to work all day and leave it all behind.
