Now I will decide what I want to do, as soon as I feel some kind of normalcy in my world. The choices are endless. Are any of you teachers? Have any of you retired? Well, I once again am trying to grow tomatoes. My DH has given up, since we don't agree on how many we should plant and how far from the house they belong. Can any of you relate? I am doing it my way this year. He did convince me to plant too many so now I have a mess of tangled tomato vines, but they are growng and I am watching them regularly. My Grandma would never have a garden because according to her," I had to do that growin' up and I'll never do it again." I wonder what she would think of me now. If they grow who wants a taste of a good tomato sandwich. If you have any good recipes let me know.billihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17003291142038744566noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6555315229367968559.post-13782946585859041212018-06-11T18:07:00.002-07:002018-06-11T18:07:39.514-07:00Simple ChangesWhen I read how basic lifestyles were in the past I'm envious. Today we have too much going on, running errands, keeping up with news, cooking and cleaning for the home and family. Oh, wait, that's sounds like then. Why does it seem too much now? I think we make things too complicated by not planning or thinking ahead. I was so excited today when I actually didn't change my menu, just because I didn't have my usual ingredients. I had planned spaghetti thinking I had my jar of sauce. No I have never made it from scratch, seemed too complicated. So get ready because ....... enter my essential oils. I had fire roasted tomatoes, garlic, onion, oregano oil, basil oil, salt and pepper. BAM!!! Hubby is not a fan of tomato dishes, but he liked it. It got a "pretty good" instead of the "it's allright" so once again the oils have it.
I attended the most amazing "Oily" Workshop today. There was so much information shared and I had so many questions answered. I don't understand why anyone would choose to put so many harmful products in their system when God has supplied everything we need.
Lolli Gonzales is such a Blessing for sharing her knowledge with those willing to listen and who want to learn. Our body is wonderfully made and we should do all we can to care for it. As I get older I realize this and make changes as I can. It's not easy, economical or fun sometimes, but Meetups like today make it like a new adventure in this chapter of life. If you would like to know more about starting an Oily adventure let me know and i can get you started. Thanx to Leah and Lolli for the encouragement!billihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17003291142038744566noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6555315229367968559.post-74854459113378700732018-01-15T16:53:00.000-08:002018-01-15T16:53:18.388-08:00starting the year off healthy

This past Fall I got a bit of cold or sinus crud and immediately started on a regime of oils. My hubby, having a weak immune system, decided it couldn't hurt. So far it has been amazing. We never got down enough to just laze around and didn't miss any work. Flu has been all around us and we still keep oiling it up and staying well. These oils are a blessing and I wish more people would take them seriously. After all God gave us all we would need to live on his Earth, so why not do it his way. If you would like to learn more about living without constant medication and discomfort, let me hear from you. I love to talk about the Oils.billihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17003291142038744566noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6555315229367968559.post-89544934432843218842017-12-08T18:52:00.002-08:002017-12-08T18:52:24.945-08:00Is the Cheap Stuff just as Good as Young Living

Are you still skeptical about spending so much on quality essential oils? Here are some things to think about while standing in the Department store health aisle.

Oils
are made from leaves, roots and other plant parts that must be harvested correctly
by many people over several days just for a small amount of the oil. It takes a lot of the plant, sometimes up to
a ton of leaves, roots or plant parts to make just 1 bottle of oil. It takes about 60 lemons for one bottle of
essential oil and you only need one drop for a good dose of limonene which is
good for so many ills. this doesn't even include the effects of processing; which Young Living only uses one distillation near the site of harvest for the purest oil. When you really
think about it. Could the cheaper
companies afford to sell a quality product so cheap.

YL oils are full of high quality, potent oils that can pack a
lot into one drop of pure health. When used
wisely, one bottle can last a long time and still provide the best care,
compared to its counterpart, that has been overprocessed or maybe even
adulterated.

That's how Young Living oils are, the best. If you are on the fence about oils and the cost, think of this. When you make a good pot of coffee, you have a good quality coffee, with good water, then brew it once and there's the cup of coffee you wanted. If you can't get the good coffee, you settle for what you can get, but it's not the good cup you really wanted. If you run more water over the coffee to get another cup or two, the coffee will be even less than it was. Young Living are the best, they choose the best plants in the best environments and go through one distillation, to provide the best oil you can get. What's left is sold to other companies who usually run it through more processing to get what they can out of it. You deserve the best cup of coffee and the best oil that can give you the best health.
She was so enthusiastic and pointed out one very important part of The Young Living community. We are a Community. There are lots of FB groups for YL and everyone is so willing to share and help with any question you have, and I've had some doozies. LOL I love having like minded friends who don't have to be right here to be in touch. If your intersted in joining a group of people who want to help make your life healthier and more natural just ask, everyone is welcome.
This episode is about trying to heal my family without going to the dr. (first edition)
I got the sinus crud a couple of weeks ago, along with everyone else at work. I looked up oils that would help. I started gargling with Thieves oil, mixed a batch of honey with basil, peppermint and lemon oils to take for the congestion. then my DH came down with the same stuff. As a cancer survivor he has a low immune system, but has doubted the power of oils, so just blows my suggestions off, until now. He followed my regime along with slathering a potion of oils with coconut oil on his chest and around his nose.
2 weeks after my first symptom I feel much better and he is on his way. We're still trying to clear his chest, but the initial misery is gone, with no prescriptions involved.
It stopped a fever blister in its tracks.billihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17003291142038744566noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6555315229367968559.post-25046679539798256702017-10-21T17:27:00.002-07:002017-10-21T17:30:20.851-07:00I feel like an old hippyA few years ago, I was suffering from severe sinus issues. The headaches were awful, many turning into migraines. I was going through my months perscription in 2 weeks. I was miserable. As I tutored a friends granddaughter she shared a small container of something she had mixed up. Since I had a corner on the vics vapor rub, and it smelled similar I figured why not. I was amazed how much relief I got. I could use it as often as i needed with no side effects. She shared more of her "potions" and I was hooked.
I ordered the expensive kit and was so excited when it came in. Unfortunately, the excitement passed as I realized I had no idea what to do with all the cute little bottles. Being the skeptic that I am I soon decided that I could get the same stuff for a lot less cost. So I did what anyone did, I bought online or at the health store. The scents were very similar so I was happy and still had money in my pocket. Until, I did some reading about oils and learned the hazards of them along with benefits. I talked to alot of "oilers" and collected lots of info. Then it happened, I started getting bad headaches and the cheaper oils were no help. The final straw was when my DH came in and asked if I was painting. "of course not". "Well, it smells like turpentine in here" that was it. I started eliminating some of the cheaper oils. and eventually forgot about using them all together.

There came a day at school, as a teacher, I was having some serious stress issues and my students were out of control. My first "oily" friend came to my rescue and I have been hooked with great results.

I hope you follow me as I learn more about essential oils and continue my journey to a healthier me.

Well, I did it. I've been wanting to do this for over 20 years, but the idea of working with lye scared me off everytime. I know me well enough to know how haphazard I can get when tackling a serious task. But here it is, lye and all. I can't believe how easy it was and now I can't believe I waited so long. Have you ever been scared to do something you REALLY wanted to, but fear stopped you? Don't let fear win!!! You will regret the time you wasted. So go for it, whatever it is. You'll be glad you did. Now how's that for a bunch of old cliche's. JUST KNOW IT'S TRUE!

On our little corner of the world we have turkeys. Yes, real turkeys. The tom is the pretty one with the fluffy tail. Isn't he grand? When we got them I swore they would save us from buying one everyone year. Was I wrong. I feel like the characters in some of our classroom stories as I watch them gobble around while their store bought cousin bastes merrily in the oven. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

It's another gloomy weekend in Central Louisiana so I guess I should try to get caught up on a few things. School has kept me pretty busy so I have run low on cleaners, so I got the supplies I need to make my stash of homemade cleaners. It's economical, environmentally friendly and don't smell bad. Do you make your own or buy it? If you make your own I would love to knwo what you do!!

Time flies when your busy. haha I didn't realize how crazy my life had gotten until I decided I needed a BIG change. I was teaching Kindergarten in town with a lot of stress from administration. It seemed I never did enough.
So I made a change. I love my new school and lost track of time. So here I am again. I have loved stalking all the wonderful blogs and site that are full of everyones ideas. I just wish I had fa place to use them. Maybe that will be my next big change. At my age I better hurry up.
When I found the previous pamplet of floor plans this one was my second favorite.
I found several of these pamplets in my Mother-in-laws stuff and fell in love with them. This is one of my favorites. I love that the utility room was large. Living in a mobile home makes me want one of these even more. A good use of space. Some of the others are more adaptable to change.

When I was cruising the aisles of the local Dollar Tree I saw this and thought it might be useful. The package had one for the kitchen and one for the bathroom. I am now realizing how handy it is. It catches everything the strainer or colander misses. I have emptied it several times and each time know how I wished I would have found it years ago. This was in a local consignment shop. The fact it had my maiden name was only a small part of why it caught my eye. Isn't it fantastic!!! Now I just need to find a place to put it, since of course it came home with me. I even got the owner to come down on the price since I told a story of how it was mine as a small child and the proof was in the name. lol

A few weeks ago, I made a big mess. While moving a pan, I bumped the cabinet and spilled the oil all over the floor. eeeewwww! In the past I've tried cleaning with lots of things, but always had a slick residue. I don't like using lots of chemical cleaners. I remembered that using baking soda on a spilled egg works great, but didn't have enough for this big of a mess. What's the next best thing? Flour. I covered every bit of oil, even the splatters, with it. It worked great. I let it sit long enough to absorb the oil, then swept it up. There were no slick spots to catch me off guard later. Sooooo, if you have a major oil spill on your floor, and I really hope you don't, just grab the floor and broom. billihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17003291142038744566noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6555315229367968559.post-18864472209139101022013-05-31T10:45:00.001-07:002013-05-31T10:45:29.643-07:00getting organized again

I start every school year off with good intentions to stay organized "this year". But alas, I always fail. I spend my summer cleaning, throwing away, donating, and whatever else it takes to get it all together. One of my tricks that actually has helped is turning all my hangers backwards. As I use a garment I hang the hanger back correctly. By the next summer I know which clothes I used or didn't. Sometimes it's hard getting rid of an old favorite, but it does help. Unfortunately, sometimes as this time approaches I will wear something just to say I can keep it.lol This year I had several tops to eliminate, but now I feel much better. If it only worked on shoes. billihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17003291142038744566noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6555315229367968559.post-72336409148490844562013-03-10T08:58:00.002-07:002013-03-10T08:58:57.407-07:00Another page from Home Ec. This is another page from the 1944 Home Ec. books I found. This shows the progression of the electric stove. Is Westinghouse still in business? I would love to find one of the first model's in working order. I would definitely be "vintage" then.billihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17003291142038744566noreply@blogger.com0
